ORIGINAL THEORIES
Rhythmic Expressionism
Conceived and developed by SceneFour, Rhythmic Expressionist visuals are those artworks that originate from musical performance, as the art team tracks the movement of instrumentalists through the use of light and movement over short periods of time. Rhythmic Expressionist art is essentially, performance artwork captured into one frame. Originally, this practice was developed with the intention of working with drummers as they performed on the drum kit. It has since progressed to other instruments including guitar and bass guitar.
Curatorial Art
Curatorial Artwork places the role of artist in the hands of the voyeur or curator of found imagery. This is a response to the age of creation of visual elements without the originator of said elements taking credit, as we see in meme creativity online. Elements are credited to those that share these images and note their significance, substance, and importance. Hence, the creative merit rests on the “finder” or “dispenser” of images. Curatorial Art also makes a creative transition as artists take images and may choose to reconstruct or re-engineer them, ala collage, assemblage and meme graphics. And yes, collage and assembly art in modern times can be deemed Curatorial in nature.
