Street Art (Generic Brand)
Cory Danziger, 2024
24"x 24" on canavs
Growing up, my mother would often buy Generic Brand groceries. These were cheaper options than "brand name" groceries. These products had no visual frills and were just essentially labeled to let you know what was inside. I remember going to friend's homes and seeing things like Minute Maid Orange Juice in their refrigerators and thinking "Wow, these folks are really living!" Brand name groceries looked so much better than the generic stuff I often saw at home.
I recently thought about these Generic Brands as it applies to the art marketplace. It is after all a marketplace of lots of different choices and options and creative thinkers doing their best to move their products. It occurred to me that there isn't a Generic Brand option for artwork. I chose to create my own Generic Brand Art Series. I used the exact same look and feel as the Generic Brand products that were in my home growing up.
These Generic Brand art pieces are like groceries, they provide a non-distinct option for fine art. In being "non-distinct," they become distinct. The Conceptual behind these works is at the forefront of these pieces.
There are currently two Generic Brand works available in the series. "Street Art" measures 24"x 24" on canvas. "Provocative Nude" measures 18"x 24" on canvas. Each is signed by artist Cory Danziger and ship with Certificate of Authenticity.
